Lead execution on a major project as SQRD's senior technical presence on site — directing daily works, supervising subcontractors, and holding responsibility for the technical accuracy, quality and progress of the works under the Project Manager.
Key responsibilities
Execution and supervision
- Lead daily execution against the approved programme and report progress daily and weekly.
- Set out works and verify dimensional accuracy against approved drawings.
- Direct and supervise finishing and MEP subcontractors, holding them to programme and specification.
- Resolve site-level technical queries; escalate design conflicts to the Project Manager with a proposed solution rather than the problem alone.
- Plan short-term look-ahead schedules and allocate labour and trades accordingly.
Technical
- Review shop drawings and material submittals for constructability before they are issued for approval.
- Coordinate architectural finishes with MEP first and second fix, and identify clashes before execution.
- Maintain accurate as-built markups throughout the works.
- Advise on buildability and value engineering opportunities during execution.
Quality
- Inspect and sign off completed works against specification before subcontractor payment is certified.
- Reject non-conforming work and enforce rectification at the subcontractor's cost where applicable.
- Maintain the project snag list and drive closure ahead of handover.
- Prepare inspection requests and accompany consultant and client inspections.
Materials and site control
- Raise material requests with sufficient lead time for procurement to source without expediting premiums.
- Verify deliveries against approved submittals and purchase orders, and reject non-compliant material.
- Maintain complete site records: daily diaries, labour returns, delivery notes and inspection records.
- Monitor material wastage and site consumption against allowances.
Health and safety
- Enforce health and safety requirements on site, including the authority to stop unsafe work.
- Conduct toolbox talks and verify that subcontractors work to approved method statements.
Qualifications & experience
- Bachelor's degree in Architectural or Civil Engineering; Egyptian Engineering Syndicate membership.
- 6 to 9 years in fit-out, fine finishing or interior construction execution.
- Proven delivery of at least two commercial fit-out projects of 800 m² or above as lead site engineer.
- Experience of fast-track programmes with delivery periods under three months.
- Experience supervising both finishing and MEP trades.
Technical skills
- AutoCAD, MS Project and MS Office.
- Ability to read and coordinate MEP drawings alongside architectural and structural.
- Quantity take-off and material forecasting.
- Arabic fluent; English to a working standard sufficient for correspondence and client meetings.
